GenTreeXT genetically improved loblolly pine trees showing off great form in N. Mississippi

Northern Mississippi land is comprised of diverse soils and rolling terrain, and despite it's inland and northern latitude position, it has good productive capability for loblolly pine growth. The native loblolly pine population seed source is very rough in form though and local markets for pulpwood are limited and low value paying; thus, there is great value in focused tree improvement for quality sawtimber trees capable of being planted at controlled initial planting densities.

The trees pictured here were planted on a Loring silt loam soil series in the Loess Hills Region east of the Mississippi River Delta in early 2020. Twin Oaks Farm is located in Yalobusha County just east of Interstate 55 about 80 miles south of Memphis. This land is managed by Canale Forestry and the containerized GenTreeXT CMP-infused seedlings were hand planted well and in straight rows by Jimmy Nail Planting Services.

Co-owner and strong land steward Patrice O'brien pictured here is enjoying being outgrown early by her new plantation. Interested in trying out some GenTreeXT seedlings in your next planting area? Contact me for more information or go to our website at www.gentreext.com.
